Water Colour Workshop.

Sarah lead a water colour workshop open to all on a sunny Sunday in Nottingham Arboretum on Sunday 8th September.  Participants met by the bandstand and learnt techniques and tips for improving their water colour skills. Participants ranged from absolute beginners through improvers to returners after a long break.

The band played, the sun shone, people meandered by and a great workshop creating water colour images and developing skills took place.

New Dynamics of Ageing Conference.

Sarah and Lytisha headed down to Islington to participate in The New Dynamics of Ageing conference. The conference was the culmination of an 8 year cross council research project which highlighted a whole range questions about ageing and "it's social, economic, biological and cultural impacts".

The School of Story and Art were particularly interested in the research that involved "Art in Later Lives". Some of the highlights will be featured on this website over the coming months.

Looking After Each Other

Lytisha attended the Looking After Each Other conference held at The International Community Centre, Mansfield Road, Nottingham. It was a very interesting day raising some interesting questions. For example, 'what motivates people to look after one another?' After some discussions on this and other topics the statutory and voluntary sector representatives each made a pledge stating how there were going to contibute to the Looking After Each Other movement. The School of Story and Art pledged to continue to look for opportunities to work with communities, bring people together through creating stories together. More can be read on the City Council website at: http://m.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/article/27199/Its-all-about-looking-after-each-other-in-Nottingham.
